Our Tuesday night classes which are held from 7:30pm to 9:30pm are focused on teaching the
basic philosophies, ethics, morals, rituals, prayers, and discipline needed to practice Ifa. Tuesday night classes are open
to the public and are presented by Awo Fasina Falade and Ara Ifa: Ijo Orunmila members.
Some of the topics covered during these classes include:
A. The temples 4 principles
B. The Cosmology which includes the Egun, the Orisa, Egbe, Ori, the Irunmole, etc...
C. The different aspects of the Creator: Olorun, Eleda, Olodumare
D. The different realms of existence: Orun, Ile, Aiye
E. Initiations/Steps needed to develop and grow within the Ifa Tradition
F. Meanings of Ewo/Taboo
G. How to set up your Iku Joko/Egun Shrine
H. How to communicate with spirit through basic divination
I. Basic prayers to various Orisa, Egun, etc...
J. The moral values of the peoples of Ife
K. The different priesthoods: Babalawo, Iyanifa, Olorisa, Egungun, etc...
L. The meaning of the Odu. The ancient teachings of the ancestors. The word of "Olodumare".
The doctrine of life and ethical well-being. The moral understanding of each of the facets of Odu.
(Note: A good foundation will be laid down for the understanding of the Odu but will not
be studied in great depth for that duty is the responsilibity of a chosen few that decide to become Babalawo
or Iyanifa)
Yoruba Olodmare Ile
Purpose and Mission:
A. To reintroduce to Africans in the United States the authentic knowledge and
practice of our ancestral spiritual traditions.
B. To spread the true teachings of Ifa from the holy city of Ile Ife and Yorubaland
in general.
C. To create a network of adherents-both devotees and Awos- who will uphold Ifa's
stainless moral and ethical dictates.
D. To create a council of Ifa Elders in the United States of both Babalawo and
Iyanifa to instruct and train those interested in the true principles, teachings, and discipleship of Ifa.
E. To create a system of education and training that allows for accountability.
F. To protect Ifa and Orisa adherents from pretenders who see Ifa and Orisa as
vehicles to enrich themselves.
